Supreme Court to hear writ petitions against TikTok ban today

KATHMANDU: Today, the Supreme Court is set to hear the writ petitions challenging the government’s ban on TikTok. Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, along with advocates Swagat Nepal and Jagannath Dulal, among others, have filed these petitions at the apex court.

The ban on the social networking site TikTok was imposed by the government on November 13th, leading to the prompt filing of several writ petitions on the first day of the court opening after the Tihar holidays, which occurred on November 17th. The court has scheduled the initial hearing on these petitions for November 20th.

Given that Saturday and Sunday are public holidays due to Chhath Puja, the hearing has been appropriately scheduled for Monday (today).
