CNI, AMCHAM ink MoU for American investment promotion in Nepal

KATHMANDU: In a bid to foster a robust business environment between Nepal and the United States, the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration.

The MoU, signed for the enhancement of American investment and cooperation in Nepal, emphasizes joint efforts by the two organizations.

The agreement outlines their commitment to work towards establishing contact points for entrepreneurs from Nepal and the United States, providing information to American investors interested in investing in Nepal, advocating policy reforms to fulfill mutual objectives, and conducting strategic activities to boost American investments in Nepal.

The collaboration, aimed at strengthening financial and non-financial services in the market, particularly in the IT sector, is highlighted in the understanding.

The signing ceremony took place at the Confederation of Nepalese Industries on Tuesday, with CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal and AMCHAM President Nirmal Kaji Shrestha signing the MoU.

During the program, AMCHAM President Shrestha emphasized the positive impact of such cooperation on Nepal’s economic development. CNI President Agrawal expressed his commitment to working collaboratively to promote American investment in Nepal.

He stated that this partnership would help open avenues for knowledge exchange, innovation, and contribute to global market competition, attracting foreign investment while aiding industrial development in the country.

AMCHAM, established two years ago, has been actively organizing various programs and initiatives to promote American investment within Nepal. This MoU solidifies their dedication to fostering bilateral economic relations and facilitating the expansion of foreign investments in Nepal.
