Manish Thapa appointed as Consul of Costa Rica in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Manish Thapa has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Costa Rica for Nepal. This appointment signifies a pivotal step in fostering collaboration and strengthening ties in trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations.

In his capacity as the Honorary Consul, Dr Manish Thapa endeavors to facilitate tourism, cultural exchange, trade and investment between Nepal and Costa Rica, striving to foster understanding and cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.

The Costa Rican Government extends its warmest congratulations to Dr Thapa and looks forward to a prosperous partnership with Nepal. This demonstrates unwavering support for Dr Thapa’s initiatives and the bilateral relationship.

Dr Manish Thapa has a history of playing a significant role in fostering diplomatic ties between Nepal and Costa Rica. His efforts included facilitating a high-level official visit by the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Costa Rica in October 2018 while serving as a professor at the United Nations mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) in Costa Rica. This visit substantially contributed to the strengthening of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Nepal and Costa Rica established diplomatic relations on August 16, 1977, characterized by mutual trust, friendship, and goodwill. The collaboration between Nepal and Costa Rica is expected to focus on key areas such as trade, tourism, and education, where both nations see substantial potential for growth and mutual benefit.
