InDrive launches ride-hailing service in Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara

KATHMANDU: InDrive, a leading ride-hailing platform, has officially commenced its services in Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara following the completion of its registration process. With its entry into the Nepali market, InDrive has announced a commission structure, charging drivers up to 10 percent of their earnings.

During a press conference held on Monday, InDrive revealed its commitment to the Nepalese market, emphasizing its compliance with local regulations and tax processes. Pavit Nanda Anand, Head of Asia Pacific Communications at InDrive, underscored the importance of Nepal as a strategic market for the company.

InDrive initiated its operations in Nepal towards the end of 2022 and has since registered as a ride-sharing industry with the Department of Industry and the Office of the Company Registrar. The company has obtained a PAN number for tax purposes, ensuring transparency in its financial dealings.

To facilitate seamless transactions, InDrive has partnered with IME Pay as its payment partner, enabling users to make secure payments. Rita Pokharel, Director of Nepal for InDrive, highlighted the company’s commitment to providing additional services beyond ride-hailing, including delivery and inter-city rides.

One distinctive feature of InDrive is its unique pricing algorithm, which allows both passengers and drivers to negotiate fares. This approach sets InDrive apart from other ride-hailing apps and enhances flexibility for both parties involved.

Director Pokharel assured that InDrive’s operations are conducted in an organized manner, with the establishment of an office in Kathmandu. The company is committed to providing a reliable and efficient transportation solution while adhering to local regulations and meeting the diverse needs of Nepalese consumers.
