Govt announces completion plans for Bhairahawa Integrated Check Post and Rasuwa Dry Port by FY 2024-25

KATHMANDU: The government has committed to completing the construction of an integrated check post at Bhairahawa and a dry port at Rasuwa within the next fiscal year, FY 2024-25. This announcement was made by Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun during the presentation of the annual budget estimate in a joint session of both houses of the Federal Parliament.

Minister Pun emphasized the importance of these infrastructure projects in enhancing trade and economic activities. “The budget has been allocated to ensure the completion of these critical infrastructure projects in the upcoming fiscal year,” he stated.

In addition to the Bhairahawa integrated check post and the Rasuwa dry port, Minister Pun also highlighted plans for the construction of a dry port at Dodhara Chandani in Kanchanpur. These projects are part of the government’s broader strategy to boost trade facilitation and improve logistics infrastructure across the country.

The completion of these projects is expected to significantly enhance Nepal’s trade capabilities, streamline customs processes, and reduce transit times for goods moving in and out of the country.

The integrated check post at Bhairahawa and the dry ports at Rasuwa and Dodhara Chandani will provide state-of-the-art facilities for cargo handling, customs clearance, and storage, thereby improving efficiency and reducing costs for traders.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering economic infrastructure and supporting the country’s growth by improving trade logistics. The completion of these projects is anticipated to have a substantial positive impact on Nepal’s economy by facilitating smoother and more efficient trade operations.
