NRB Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari Announces Flexible Monetary Policy for Next Fiscal Year

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari has announced that the central bank will implement a flexible monetary policy for the upcoming fiscal year, prioritizing the interests of the private sector.

Speaking at a program on Monday, Governor Adhikari outlined that the forthcoming monetary policy will address various economic challenges. He indicated that the central bank plans to revise both the policy rates and the bank rate to support this initiative.

Governor Adhikari expressed optimism regarding the policies in the annual budget aimed at boosting the agriculture sector. “I am confident that the economic growth target of six percent and the inflation target of 5.5 percent for the next fiscal year will be achievable,” he stated. He also urged bankers to exercise caution in loan disbursement as the NRB adopts an expansionary monetary policy.

The proposed changes are expected to stimulate economic activity and provide necessary support to various sectors, fostering a favorable environment for sustained growth.
