KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26) in a joint session of the Federal Parliament today at 3 PM, announced a total allocation of NPR 241.81 billion in grants to support provinces and local levels. This includes NPR 60.66 billion in fiscal equalization grants for provinces and NPR 88.97 billion for local levels, aimed at promoting equitable development across Nepal.
Additionally, NPR 30.35 billion has been allocated as conditional grants for provinces, while local levels will receive NPR 211.46 billion to fund infrastructure projects. To further bolster development, supplementary grants of NPR 3.28 billion for provinces and NPR 10.6 billion for local levels have been earmarked for infrastructure initiatives.
The budget also includes special grants of NPR 3.27 billion for provinces and NPR 9.78 billion for local levels to address specific regional needs. These allocations reflect the government’s commitment to decentralizing resources and empowering local governance to drive development.
Finance Minister Paudel emphasized that these funds are designed to strengthen fiscal federalism and support infrastructure growth, aligning with the broader goals of the 2082/83 budget to foster economic progress and regional equity.
