KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26) during a joint session of the Federal Parliament on Thursday at 3 PM, announcing a total budget of NPR 1.964 trillion. This represents a 5.6% increase compared to the current fiscal year’s budget.
The budget allocates NPR 1.18 trillion for recurrent expenditure, NPR 407 billion for capital expenditure, and NPR 375 billion for financial management. To fund the budget, the government aims to collect NPR 1.315 trillion in revenue, secure NPR 534.5 billion in foreign grants, obtain NPR 233 billion in foreign loans, and raise NPR 362 billion through internal loans.
Finance Minister Paudel emphasized that the budget is designed to drive economic growth, enhance infrastructure development, and address fiscal challenges while maintaining fiscal discipline. The ambitious financial plan reflects the government’s focus on balancing development priorities with resource constraints, as outlined in the Economic Survey and other recent policy announcements.
