Government to establish AI Center in collaboration with private sector

KATHMANDU: The government has announced plans to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center in collaboration with the private sector to promote research, application, and expansion of AI and machine learning. This was revealed by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel during the presentation of the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26) on Thursday.

“An AI Center will be established in partnership with the private sector to advance research, application, and expansion of artificial intelligence and machine learning,” Finance Minister Paudel stated in his budget speech. He further noted that the government will facilitate the commercial use of AI to drive its adoption.

This initiative is expected to boost innovation and economic growth in Nepal’s technology sector. The private sector has welcomed the announcement with optimism.
