Nepal Stock Market rises as Pure Energy leads gains amid active trading

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed Monday’s trading session with a modest gain, as the NEPSE index rose by 2.80 points, or 0.10%, to settle at 2,658.66. The market displayed strong activity, recording a total turnover of NPR 13.18 billion and 33.63 million shares traded across 105,635 transactions. The market capitalization reached NPR 4.42 trillion, with a float market capitalization of NPR 1.49 trillion.

The session saw a balanced performance with 124 stocks advancing and 124 declining, with no stocks unchanged. Pure Energy Limited (PURE) emerged as the top gainer, closing at NPR 997.80 with a remarkable gain of NPR 90.70, or 10.00%. People’s Power Limited (PPL) followed closely, rising by NPR 36.07 or 9.99% to NPR 397.20. Other gainers included Corblime International Limited (CORBL), up NPR 19.16 or 8.37% to NPR 2,578.86. On the losing side, SHPC fell by NPR 951.62 or 643.50% to NPR 643.50, and NGPL dropped by NPR 903.17 or 413.00% to NPR 413.00.

PURE’s stellar performance highlighted investor confidence, contributing significantly to the day’s gains. The total traded shares hit 33.63 million, with 318 scrips active. Technical charts showed a fluctuating index, peaking earlier before stabilizing near 2,660. Posts on X echoed the market’s positive sentiment, noting PURE’s 10% surge.
Analysts attribute the rise to resilience in the energy sector, though the balanced advance-decline ratio suggests caution. Investors await policy clarity to sustain the upward trend.
