KATHMANDU: Prabhu Insurance Limited has announced a robust dividend proposal of 18.94% for the fiscal year 2080/81 (2023/24), marking its highest payout in six years. The decision was finalized during the company’s board meeting on June 8, 2025.
Based on its paid-up capital of NPR 1.44 billion, the company will distribute an 18% bonus share worth NPR 259.47 million and a 0.94% cash dividend of NPR 13.66 million for tax purposes, totaling 18.94%. Company Secretary Arbind Kumar Karn stated that the proposed dividend, pending approval from the Nepal Insurance Authority and the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), will be distributed to shareholders. The AGM date is yet to be announced.
This marks a significant rebound for Prabhu Insurance, which last offered a high dividend of 20% in FY 2073/74 (2016/17), its highest to date. Subsequent years saw fluctuating payouts: 12% in 2071/72, 17% in 2072/73, 16.32% in 2075/76, 10.53% in 2076/77, 11.58% in 2077/78, 7.05% in 2078/79, and 5% in 2079/80. The current proposal reflects improved financial performance, signaling confidence in the company’s growth trajectory.
The announcement has sparked optimism among investors, with Prabhu Insurance aiming to strengthen shareholder value amid a competitive insurance market. The company’s focus on prudent financial management and operational efficiency has positioned it to deliver one of its strongest dividend payouts in recent years.
