KATHMANDU: Citizens Bank International Limited has extended support to the Akhanda Jyoti Baba Swamishreeji Charitable Trust as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. The trust has been actively providing services with a spirit of compassion, including healthcare, education, and basic amenities for the underprivileged and needy.
Its initiatives include free meals for travelers, preservation and maintenance of religious heritage sites, empowerment of women through education via Kanya Gurukul, cow protection and management to uphold religious and organic traditions, and operating well-equipped dharamshalas for travelers’ rest and accommodation.
The support was handed over by the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Ganesh Raj Pokharel, during a ceremony organized at the trust. Addressing the event, Pokharel expressed his delight in contributing to the trust’s selfless service, even if modestly, and highlighted the bank’s commitment to fostering positive change in social, economic, cultural, and educational sectors through its CSR programs. The bank plans to continue such initiatives in the future.
Recently honored with the prestigious “Bank of the Year 2024” award, Citizens Bank has also introduced Nepal’s first “Citizens PhonePe Credit Card” (a virtual credit card) in collaboration with PhonePe.
Additionally, the bank offers services like share applications and RTGS through its mobile banking app, along with a Cross Bank Teller facility, allowing customers of other banks to withdraw cash by scanning a teller QR code at Citizens Bank branches. With 200 branches across 61 districts, 168 ATMs, 3 extension counters, and 74 branchless banking units, Citizens Bank serves over 1.9 million customers with modern banking services nationwide.
