DishHome’s Ramailo TV to Broadcast ‘Ramayan’ in Nepali

KATHMANDU: DishHome’s Ramailo TV, Nepal’s leading entertainment channel, is set to broadcast the critically acclaimed television series Ramayan in the Nepali language. This iconic religious and historical series will air every Thursday and Friday at 8 PM, starting from July 3, 2025.

Ramayan, based on the ancient Indian epic of the same name, was created by renowned producer, director, and writer Ramanand Sagar. Originally aired on India’s DD National channel from 1987 to 1988, the series was presented by Ashok Kumar and Ramanand Sagar, with music composed by Ravindra Jain.

During its initial run, ‘Ramayan’ made history in India by attracting an unprecedented 82% viewership share. According to the BBC, the series was watched by over 650 million viewers. It has been re-broadcast on more than 20 channels across 17 countries worldwide. In 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, its re-run set a global record as the most-watched television program in a single day, drawing 77 million viewers.
