KATHMANDU: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a hike in the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene, effective from Monday midnight. According to the NOC’s board decision, petrol prices have increased by NPR 5 per liter, while diesel and kerosene have risen by NPR 4 per liter.
The price of aviation fuel has also been adjusted. For international flights from Kathmandu, jet fuel prices have increased by USD 51 per kiloliter, while domestically, aviation fuel has risen by NPR 7 per liter.
Under the revised pricing structure, petrol will now be sold at NPR 162.50 per liter in the first tier, NPR 164 in the second tier, and NPR 165 in the third tier. Similarly, diesel and kerosene will be priced at NPR 146.50 per liter in the first tier, NPR 148 in the second tier, and NPR 149 in the third tier.
The price hike comes amid fluctuating global oil prices, adding pressure on consumers already grappling with rising costs. The NOC stated that the adjustment was necessary to align with international market trends, though it is likely to spark concerns about its impact on transportation and household expenses.
