Nepal’s top five students to compete in Huawei’s Seeds for the Future in China

KATHMANDU: Huawei Nepal has announced the selection of five outstanding students to represent Nepal at the Seeds for the Future 2025 regional program in China, scheduled for August 2025. The flagship CSR initiative drew over 650 applications from Nepali university students, with Adarsha Shrestha, Apala Timilsina, Dinanath Padhya, Manjila Pandey, and Stuti Dhungana emerging as the top contenders after a rigorous selection process.

The program shortlisted 30 students for technical training, workshops, and cultural exchanges designed to cultivate future ICT leaders. Participants visited a cutting-edge data center in Kathmandu for hands-on exposure to digital infrastructure and attended a UNESCO workshop at UN House on ‘Leveraging Technology for Multilingualism and Cultural Diversity.’ They also explored Chinese culture and cross-border educational collaboration at the China Cultural Center. Training sessions focused on 5G, AI, cloud computing, and clean energy solutions, equipping students for the global digital economy.

The final evaluation on June 25, 2025, assessed candidates on communication skills, technical aptitude, creative thinking, global awareness, alignment with Sustainable Development Goals, leadership, and personal motivation. A jury comprising experts from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, UNESCO, Nepal Telecom, and Huawei Nepal selected the winners based on their CVs and performance.

In China, the students will network with peers across the Asia-Pacific, receive mentorship from global experts, and gain insights into real-world business practices. They will visit leading ICT enterprises, collaborate on tech-based solutions for global challenges, and engage with industry leaders shaping technology’s future.

Huawei Nepal’s initiative highlights its commitment to fostering Nepal’s digital talent. The selected students are poised to showcase Nepal’s potential on a regional stage, contributing to innovation and cross-cultural collaboration.
