KATHMANDU: Nepal’s growing coffee and hospitality brand, Everest Coffee Beans, has expanded its footprint with the launch of its seventh outlet in Kathmandu’s Anamnagar area, signaling the company’s aggressive push into Nepal’s rapidly expanding café and specialty coffee market.

The newly opened outlet is located near the eastern gate of Singha Durbar and marks the company’s first expansion under a franchise-based business model.

Operated by Everest Group of Companies, Everest Coffee Beans says it aims to capitalize on the rising demand for premium coffee experiences among Nepal’s urban youth and working professionals.

Company Chairman Prem Sen Sunar said Nepal’s coffee culture has been evolving rapidly, creating strong opportunities for expansion in the hospitality and food service sector.

“Coffee culture in Nepal is growing very positively. Young consumers are increasingly seeking quality coffee and a better café environment,” Sunar said. “We are moving forward with the goal of connecting Nepali coffee and hospitality with international-standard experiences.”

Company Announces Free Franchise Scheme

In a move aimed at attracting new investors, the company announced that it will provide five additional franchises free of cost under a special promotional scheme.

Sunar said the company itself would support franchise operations and management to maintain service standards and brand consistency.

“We will provide five more franchises free of charge to encourage investors. Operational and management support will also be handled by us,” he said. “An Everest Coffee Beans outlet can be launched with a minimum investment of around Rs 2 million under our standards.”

The company launched its first outlet in Maitidevi, Kathmandu, on Chaitra 19, 2080 BS. Within three years, Everest Coffee Beans has expanded to seven outlets and is preparing to open its eighth branch in Kalanki.

Rising Coffee Culture in Nepal

The company offers a range of coffee products alongside bakery items and snacks. Everest Group has also been investing in coffee roasting, hospitality services, and training-related businesses in Nepal.

The Anamnagar outlet represents the first investment by Sankalp Investment Pvt. Ltd., which acquired the Everest Coffee Beans franchise for the location.

Sankalp Investment Chairman Krishna Aryal said the company chose to invest in the brand due to its quality standards and customer service.

“We have plans to expand the brand further in other locations in the coming days,” Aryal said.

Nepal’s café industry has witnessed significant growth in recent years, driven largely by changing urban lifestyles, increasing youth spending, remote working culture, and growing demand for social gathering spaces.

Coffee houses are increasingly becoming hubs for business meetings, networking, and social interaction, especially in Kathmandu and other major cities. At the same time, rising demand for domestically produced coffee has been creating new investment opportunities in Nepal’s coffee farming, roasting, and hospitality sectors.

Industry observers say Nepal’s specialty coffee market is gradually transitioning from a niche segment into a mainstream urban lifestyle business, attracting entrepreneurs and investors seeking opportunities in the country’s expanding food and beverage economy.
