Ncell Tower kids
KATHMANDU: Three school-going boys who went missing from Sinja Rural Municipality–2, Awasthibada in Jumla have been safely rescued after two days of search, bringing relief to their families and the local community.
According to police, the children had taken shelter for two nights under an Ncell tower after losing their way in a forested area while returning home.
The rescued children have been identified as 7-year-old Paribartan Bista, 8-year-old Prashant Khadka, and 12-year-old Binod Rokaya.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the children had gone into the forest on Monday to collect wild fruits (kafal) after going to school. However, they lost their way and were unable to return home.
After the children did not return, worried parents and locals launched a search in schools, village routes, the Hima River banks, and nearby market areas including Narakot. When no trace was found, the incident was reported to the Area Police Office, Narakot.
A search team led by Police Sub-Inspector Krishna Bahadur Budha was immediately deployed.
After an intensive search operation, the children were found in a remote high-altitude forest area near Khetikhark, close to the Jumla–Kalikot border.
According to Assistant Head Constable Tilak Prasad Upadhyay, the children had spent two nights in the forest and survived by staying under the Ncell tower structure.
They were still in their school uniforms when a shepherd first spotted them and alerted the police.
Ward Chairperson Tirtha Wad said the joint effort of local residents and security personnel made the successful rescue possible.
Following the rescue, the children were handed over safely to their families. Local authorities and residents have expressed relief over the safe recovery.
