KATHMANDU: Kancharam Construction, a company owned by former Minister of State for Energy Purna Bahadur Tamang, popularly known as Kancharam, has been blacklisted by the government along with four other construction firms.
The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO), under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, has placed Kancharam Construction on the blacklist for a period of one and a half years. The decision was taken following a recommendation from the Rural Road Network Improvement Project, Project Coordination Unit, Shree Mahal, Lalitpur.
According to a public notice issued by the PPMO on Sunday, the decision to blacklist the company was made on Poush 13. The one-and-a-half-year blacklist period has come into effect from Poush 14, the date the notice was officially published.
Alongside Kancharam Construction, Chongqing International Construction Corporation, a Chinese construction company, has also been blacklisted for one and a half years, the PPMO said.
Similarly, Dragon Construction Pvt. Ltd. of Dhanusha has been blacklisted for one and a half years on the recommendation of the Nepal Water Supply Corporation, Pokhara branch office. The company’s key person has been identified as Baijnath Yadav.
In addition, Singdan Suppliers and Construction Pvt. Ltd. of Dhanusha and Bishal Nirman Sewa of Sindhupalchok have been blacklisted for one year each following recommendations from Rautamai Rural Municipality, Udayapur.
Ramesh Kumar Singdan is listed as the key person of Singdan Suppliers and Construction Pvt. Ltd., while Shyam Kumar Galan is identified as the key person of Bishal Nirman Sewa.
Under prevailing public procurement rules, blacklisted companies are barred from participating in government procurement processes for the duration of the blacklist period.
