KATHMANDU: Airlines operating regular international flights to Pokhara and Bhairahawa airports will receive exemptions on several aviation-related charges until the end of Bhadra 2085 (September 2028).
Under the decision, international airlines operating regular flights to the two airports will receive a 100% waiver on parking, landing and navigation charges. They will also be eligible for a 50% discount on ground handling charges.
The decision was approved by the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday afternoon based on a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel confirmed that the Cabinet had approved the proposal to provide the fee concessions to airlines operating regular international flights from the two airports.
The government has been offering incentives and seeking policy measures to encourage international airlines to operate regular flights from Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa, both of which have struggled to attract sustained international air traffic.
The latest fee waiver is expected to reduce airlines’ operating costs and encourage more carriers to introduce or expand regular international services from the two airports.
