KATHMANDU: Finance, Communications and Information Technology Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada has resigned from his posts.

Khatiwada submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, as per a source at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM).

Earlier this afternoon, Khatiwada has informed the Cabinet that he will resign. Khatiwada’s resignation comes a day before his term is getting end. Khatiwada’s second tenure as the finance minister will come to an end on Saturday.

Though his two-year tenure ended on March 3, he was reappointed as the finance minister for six months based on a constitutional provision. Khatiwada could not continue as a minister as the government did not appoint him as a National Assembly member.

On Thursday, the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) had decided to recommend party’s vice chair Bam Dev Gautam in a vacant seat in National Assembly.
