KATHMANDU: Though it has been more than three-and-half months since the new fiscal year began, 37 local bodies are yet to present the budget for the current fiscal year.
As per the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), 716 out of 753 local bodies have submitted the details of budget presented so far.
Especially, 32 local bodies of Province 2 have not presented their budget yet. Similarly, two local bodies each in Province 1 and Bagmati Province and one local body in Sudurpaschim Province are yet to present the budget for the current fiscal year.
Officials at the MoFAGA said that these local bodies were repeatedly directed to present the budget on time. “As they failed to comply with the direction and constitutional mandate, we have asked Ministry of Finance to take necessary action against local bodies not bringing the budget yet,” said an official at MoFAGA.
