KATHMANDU: Internet consumption is expected to increase following implementation of prohibitory order in the Kathmandu Valley. However, service providers said that there is no problem in meeting the growing demand for internet.
Demand for internet bandwidth could increase by 15 to 20 percent following enforcement of the ban in the Valley, informed Sudhir Parajuli, president of the Internet Service Providers Association of Nepal (ISPAN).
He said that there would be no problem for internet management unlike during the previous lockdown as service providers have been importing about 20 percent more internet bandwidth compared to normal times. Service providers have been importing 800 Gbps international bandwidth in Nepal today.
NTA Chairman Purushottam Khanal also claims that it will not be challenging to meet internet demand this time. “A number of offices/institutions are operating despite the current prohibitory order while service providers have learned lessons from the previous ban and internet demand,” said Khanal.
