Young Scientist Baniya selected as a delegate for the 2021 World Bank Group’s Youth Summit 2021

KATHMANDU: Young Scientist Nishchal Baniya who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Bagmati UNESCO Club has been selected to represent Bagmati UNESCO Club at the World Bank Group’s Youth Summit 2021 which is set to be held virtually from 9-10th June, 2021.

Established in 2013, the Youth Summit is an annual event hosted by the World Bank Group (WBG) to engage with youth globally on the most pressing topics facing our generation. The WBG Youth Summit is an affiliate of the Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) network, the largest volunteer organization at the WBG, which aims to inspire and empower youth within and outside the institution.

The primary goals of the Summit are to: Empower youth to explore innovative ideas to tackle development challenges, provide youth with the tools to build and engage in impactful projects and promote dialogue between youth, the WBG, and other key stakeholders globally.

The theme for the 2021 Summit is Resiliet Recovery for People and Planet.

Mr Baniya was selected as a delegate from 5000 applications of exceptional quality that have demonstrated their passion in climate change and resilient future and have the potential to be future leaders on the given subject.

 

The event is facilitated by top notch speakers including: Dr. Sandie Okoro, Senior Vice President and General Counsel for the World Bank Group,

Naria K. Santa Lucia, General Manager, Digital Inclusion and US Community Engagement Microsoft Philanthropies, David Kaczan, Environmental Economist, World Bank, Jayathma Wickramanayake, UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth and many more

The two days event will have sessions on the summit’s theme, case challenges and competitions where the delegates will have the opportunity to network with exceptional young individuals, solve challenges related to resilient future and climate change, receive mentorships from experts and professionals from the World Bank Group and pitch their ideas at the global stage.
