Foreign investment pledge down by 9.66pc as of mid-April

KATHMANDU: Foreign investment pledge to Nepal has come down by 9.66 percent as of mid-April of 2020-21 compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Statistics maintained by the Department of Industry (DoI), Nepal has received a total of Rs 27.03 billion foreign investment pledge as of mid-April 2021 for 151 different projects. Nepal had received Rs 29.92 billion worth commitment in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

In fiscal year 2018-19 Nepal had received Rs 11.57 billion for 268 projects. DoI officials said that investment pledge this year was low especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
