DPR of Nepal-China Industrial Park to be presented at OIBN meeting on Tuesday for approval

KATHMANDU: The detailed project report (DPR) of the Nepal-China Industrial Park, which is being constructed with Chinese investment in Kamal village of Jhapa, will be tabled at the upcoming meeting of of the Office of the Investment Board Nepal (OIBN), scheduled for Tuesday, for approval.

OIBN spokesperson Bhupal Baral informed that a proposal for approval of the DPR of Industrial Park will be tabled at the OIBN meeting chaired by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Construction works of the Industrial Park will proceed after approval of the DPR from OIBN. Earlier, Chinese company had prepared DPR of the Industrial Park and submitted it to the OIBN.

The industrial park, the first of its kind, is being developed with Chinese investment.

Govinda Thapa, president of Damak Clean Industrial Park, a Nepali joint venture partner company established to develop the industrial park, informed that necessary preparations have been completed to a large extent to start the construction works.

Lhasa Economic and Technological Development Zone Investment Development Company Limited and Jing Ping Joint Creation Construction Project Development Co. Ltd are other joint venture partners from China.

The government has already granted permission to bring in some Rs 65 billion Chinese investment for the park construction.

Earlier in March, Prime Minister Oli had laid the foundation stone for Nepal Damak Clean Industrial Park.

According to the project plan, the industrial park is expected to host modern industries for transportation equipment, producing white goods, textile and garments, and food processing, among others.

A total of 192 small, medium sized and large factories are expected to be set up inside the industrial park in the first phase.
