Govt prepares raising public transportation fare

KATHMANDU: The government task force, formed to review public transportation fare, has recommended the government to raise the public transport fare in the recent future.

Citing that the government has not revised public transport fare was since many years, transporters had been demanding the government review it as soon as possible.

Namaraj Ghimire, chief of the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) informed that the task force has has recommended the hike in public transportation fare. “We have already submitted the report presented to us by the taskforce. Public transportation fare will be reviewed soon,” he said.

Though the department has not disclosed by what rate will the transportation fare be reviewed, transporters have been demanding a 40 per cent increase.
