Upper Tamakoshi successfully generates electricity from second unit

KATHMANDU: The second unit of Upper Tamakoshi has started generating electricity from Tuesday. There are six units of 76 MW in Upper Tamakoshi of 456 MW.

The first unit was formed by the then Prime Minister KP Oli on July 7. Now Upper Tamakoshi has generating 152 megawatts of electricity form the project.

Bigyan Shrestha, chief executive officer of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Company Ltd, informed that electricity was generated (synchronized) from the second unit. Electricity generated from Tamakoshi has been transmitted to New Khimti substation of Ramechhap district. The generated electricity is connected to Dhalkebar substation of Dhanusha has been reached from New Khimti through 220 KV transmission line.

“Second unit of UTKHEP synchronized successfully today”, said Shrestha, adding, another unit will be started in a few days after synchronizing third one. “All the units will be fully commercialized within next few days.
