Huawei energy for a smart and sustainable world

KATHMANDU: Ever since Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. was established in Shenzhen, China on September 15, 1987, it has grown from strength to strength. Over the years it has been designing, developing and selling telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics and various smart devices across the globe.

Though Huawei was initially focused on manufacturing phone switches, it has expanded its business to include building telecommunications networks, providing operational and consulting services and equipment to enterprises inside and outside of China, and manufacturing communications devices for the consumer market.

Huawei has changed the way the world views Chinese products in recent days. It has grown to become one of the world’s leading technology firms. The company has penetrated over 170 countries with its products and services and there seems to be no stopping to its expansion. Not only in manufacturing smartphones, Huawei has also become the leading player in telecommunications equipment manufacturer.

It overtook Ericsson as the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in 2012 and in 2018 Huawei overtook Apple to become the second-largest manufacturer of smartphones. In fact, in July 2020, Huawei surpassed Samsung and Apple in the number of phones shipped worldwide for the first time.

Along with the expansion of its products and services, Huawei has also built one of the best ecosystems for research and development. In the 2021 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard published by the European Union Joint Research Centre, Huawei was ranked the second-largest investor in research and development. It also ranks fifth in the world in US patents according to a report by Fairview Research’s IFI Claims Patent Services.

Over the years, Huawei Digital Power has been striving to help carriers improve efficiency and smarten up facilities. It has become a leading player in power digitalization for a smart and sustainable world. Solutions that have been introduced by Huawei have been helping both telecom and tower carriers simplify facility deployment, improve power reliability, increase energy efficiency and make O&M smart. Huawei has also been enabling ICT networks to evolve to 5G and cloud smoothly.

The resources that Huawei has invested in research and development have started bearing fruits in recent times. For instance, the Huawei Smart-Li UPS bagged the ‘Special Prize’ at Interop Tokyo 2021 for its ultra-high reliability, power density, and efficiency, plus super intelligence. Also, its iTelecomPower is a leading energy digitalization and intelligent management system that provides increased OPEX and optimal CAPEX, telecom to social site.

In recent days, the whole world is talking about the random use of energy and how it has been hurting the environment of the earth and causing catastrophic climate change that has been affecting populations across the globe. Taking this into consideration, Huawei has developed the Advanced Hybrid Power which is AI-based and supports intelligent scheduling of grid, D.G., and solar energy, maximizing energy efficiency, providing reliable power supply for off grid/ unreliable grid areas.

Huawei’s Net-Eco is another example; it is an intelligent energy network run through synergic power, remote O&M and AI big data analysis. The company’s focus has been to build green, efficient, reliable and secure energy network for optimal OPEX.

It may look like a small development when we take the entire earth into consideration but like they say a journey always begins with the first step we take. Huawei, in its own ways has been trying to contribute to efficient energy management. And this is very important because we are living in a highly technological world which fundamentally means that we need to consume a lot of power.

Its CloudLi is the 5th generation lithium energy solution with local BMS, IoT technology, and cloud BMS. It helps in all-scenario connection and provides simplified cloud O&M, site-network cloud synergy, AI configuration, AI proactive security. This particular product unleashes site potential.

Through its relentless research, Huawei has also integrated electronic and intelligent digital technologies to create the SmartLi UPS solution. Combining Huawei’s Li-ion battery technology with a unique modular design, SmartLi UPS reinvents the power supply system for next generation data centers. Similarly, the SmartLi Solution is a battery energy storage solution for UPSs offering a longer lifespan in a compact design, for a safe, reliable power supply that’s easier to maintain.

To provide further solutions to the ICT world, Huawei has also developed the UPS5000-H (400–1600 kVA) NT which is a medium- and large-scale UPS system with advanced 100 kVA/3U hot swappable power modules and a remarkable 99% efficiency. Those who have been using it have vouched for its efficacy. Likewise, Huawei’s UPS5000-S Series (50 kVA to 800 kVA) UPS is designed for medium- and large-sized data centers, with modular efficiency of 97.5% and system efficiency of 97.1%.

At present, the entire world is talking about data but the issue that always used to be raised earlier was about the difficulty in data storage and even if there was a data storage facility there used to be problems with the infrastructure. To provide a solution to this problem, Huawei has developed Quicker ROI. Through this service, Huawei digitalizes data center infrastructure to deliver agile, reliable, energy-efficient, and smart products and solutions that accelerate the Return on Investment (ROI) for your business.

Most technology companies focus on introducing products or services that have been developed by their research and development team and by aligning them with their vision. However, Huawei believes in providing products and services that are tailored for any business.

With an extensive range of products designed to create energy-efficient infrastructure, including Uninterruptible Powers Supplies (UPSs), precision air conditioners, and a powerful management system, Huawei can meet your business needs from branch to HQ data centers, in indoor or outdoor settings.

New products and services are introduced by numerous companies on an annual basis but most of them are usually not up to the level of the customers’ wants and requirements. Huawei, meanwhile has been able to prove itself and has been a global success. Huawei is a market leader with more than 830 data centers deployed worldwide. It covers sectors from telecom and ISP to government, finance, transportation, and everything in between.

Any company that has been using Huawei’s products and services will vouch for the company’s reliability and with Huawei, your data center infrastructure is always in safe hands. Now this is very important because in the previous days we as individual companies focused on setting up hardware to store data within our premises. But now it is all about cloud computing and what this means is the necessity to have a system whereby our data is stored in the most secure manner.

To make data storage more efficient and effective Huawei also provides containerized data center solutions. What we can notice with traditional data centers is that they suffer from long construction periods, high energy consumption and high initial investment. This makes it difficult for fast-moving businesses to manage rapid future expansion.

To help resolve these issues, Huawei has launched the IDS1000 outdoor data center solution, which has a highly integrated power system, environmental monitoring, cooling systems, racks, cabling, fire control, security and other infrastructure facilities, all packaged in a standard shipping container. This solution complies with the diverse business needs of customers today.

Huawei IDS1000 series container data center solutions include two types: IDS1000-C (Cluster) and IDS1000-A (All-in-one),providing more than 10 solutions for customers. This is suitable for data centers of different scales and construction levels. The containerized data center solution is an all-in-one singe container and multi-container cluster solution, covering small, medium and large data centers (30~1000kW)with different rated power consumption (3kW~15kW).

The customized multi-function ICT containers make outdoor data center suitable for both living and official needs. It is developed on the concept of pre-engineering design and can be deployed in one week. It also does not require any building to house the center, just some land to construct it and power and network connection are needed.

It also has high environment adaptability and can be installed in different extreme environments. Huawei’s containerized data center solution helps save energy thus helping save on investments in ancillary facilities and operation cost.

It also has smart interaction and automatic management system. The system monitors the container temperature, humidity, smoke, door magnetic detector, water leakage, and air conditioning running state. The Net Ecosystem which Huawei has implemented provides unified and centralized management of all resources.

Huawei, as a leading global technology company has made life easier not only for big multinationals but for each individual who is in anyway connected to the Huawei eco-system.
