Costlier Commuting!

KATHMANDU: The government has raised public transportation fares from Tuesday citing rise in price of petroleum products.

This is second time in a week that the government has hiked the fare making commuting costlier.

Issuing a public notice, the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) said that the fares of public transport have been increased by 2.1 percent while those of cargo transports in hilly and Terai region have been increased by 2.7 percent and three percent, respectively. The decision has been taken on the basis of the auto pricing system implemented in transport businesses.

On May 18, the government had increased the transport fares by up to 5.1 percent.
