Helicopter flights in Nepal now requires two pilots

KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has made a decision which requires two pilots in every helicopter flights.

Dev Chandra Lal Karna, Deputy Director General at CAAN, informed that all helicopters should now fly with two pilots effective from July 1.

Currently, single pilot is flying helicopters in Nepal. However, CAAN has made it mandatory to have two pilots even in small helicopters.

Due to the geographical/topographical difficulties in Nepal, the accident rate of small helicopters is high here. “That is why such a decision has been taken to increase air safety,” he informed.
