Deposit in banks fall by Rs 64 billion in six days adding pressure to liquidity

KATHMANDU: Since the start of new fiscal year 2022-23, there has been a significant decline in bank deposits.

According to the data released by the Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA), the deposits of 26 commercial banks have decreased by 64 billion rupees as of July 22 compared to mid-June.

Loans have declined modestly compared to deposits. The total debt has decreased by Rs 10 billion. Currently, the total debt with the banks is 41 trillion 65 billion rupees.

Foreign currency deposits of banks have also decreased by Rs 2. Debt has also decreased by Rs 2 billion.
