Wai Wai signs up journalist/mountaineer Purnima Shrestha as brand ambassador

KATHMANDU: In a tribute to the Mountaineers’ and Trekkers’ love for Nepal’s most loved noodles brand which is their trusted partner during various expedition, CG Foods part of the Chaudhary Group (CG) has signed up renowned mountaineer and photojournalist Purnima Shrestha as the brand ambassador for Wai-Wai Noodles, CG’s flagship brand and Speed Energy Drink.

CG which has already been synonymous with youth aspirations and has been instrumental in promoting country’s tourism, women empowerment and sports through various endorsements chose Shrestha in its tribute to her adventurous journey often unheralded across 8000+ peaks.

Purnima’s anointment as Brand Ambassador is the CG’s first formal endorsement of mountaineering as a sport where Wai Wai is the only convenient and nourishing food in the high peaks and treacherous terrains of Himalayas.

Mountaineering and Trekking are strenuous activities where there is often no means to cook food and have proper fluids. Wai Wai noodles has been the lifeline for many-a-mountain expedition where mountaineers swear its’ easy to cook and eat attribute and lightweight nature.

CG Food’s Speed Energy Drink which was already a preferred drink among Nepalis helping them energize their lives, increase alertness and enhance physical and mental performances – will be joining the expedition and energizing it. The blend of Wai Wai and Speed Energy Drink is all set to ease adventures including mountaineering.

Purnima was flagged off by Nirvana Chaudhary, managing director, CG Foods in a solemn ceremony by the handing over of customary flags bearing the Wai Wai and Speed Energy Drinks insignia for hoisting atop the high peaks.

“After five years, I shall be scaling the 8163 mtr Mount Manaslu again – this time without oxygen and I am very excited to hoist the Chaudhary Group atop the summit,” said Shrestha expressing her gratitude to CG Foods for the support.

Shrestha has to her credit climbs up seven mountains above 8,000 meters in Nepal, including the tallest – Mount Everest. She took up the Wai Wai Flag day before her new adventure up the world’s eighth tallest peak.

Born in Arughat-3 of Gorkha, Purnima is a well-known name in Nepal’s mountaineers having climbed all the top 8 peaks higher than 8000+ metres. She is also a prominent photojournalist by profession who bring alive some of the most striking photos from the highest places on the Earth.
