Nepal to host Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Forum on September 14

KATHMANDU: Investment Board Nepal–an apex government agency– will host an investment forum this week to fulfill the government’s commitment to ‘zero carbon’ emissions during the COP26 summit.

Nepal’s top government agency will host an investment forum this week to fulfill the government’s commitment to ‘zero carbon’ emissions during the COP26 summit. This information was given by the officials on Sunday.

During the ‘COP26’ summit held in Glasgow in November 2021, Nepal had announced its commitment to ‘zero carbon’ emissions from 2022 to 2045 and to become carbon negative thereafter. Nepal later talked about increasing the forest cover to 45 percent by 2030.

Nepal Investment Board (IBN),  set up in 2011 to facilitate public-private partnerships and foreign direct investment (FDI) in Nepal, will host a “Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Forum” here on September 14.

According to a press release issued by IBN, “This platform will be a milestone for resource mobilization with a view to achieve zero carbon emissions as per the commitment made by the Government of Nepal during the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26).” There will be 400 participants which include countries like India, Bangladesh, UK and USA.
