NAC to fly Kuala Lampur and Delhi from GBIA

Qatar Airways proposes management takeover of Nepal Airlines Corporation amid financial crisis

KATHMANDU: Direct flights will be offered from Bhairahawa to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and New Delhi in India by Nepal Airlines Corporation (Nepal Airlines).

The Corporation has scheduled regular flights from the Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha International Airport to both locations beginning in the second week of May.

Ramesh Paudel, a spokesman for NAC, reports that preparations for direct flights from Bhairahawa to New Delhi and Kuala Lumpur have begun. The necessary flight permit process has advanced with both nations for that purpose. He said that by accelerating technical planning, marketing, and manpower management, work had begun.

The process has been advanced, according to spokesman Paudel, so that there will be at least one flight per week to both destinations, and the number of flights will be increased in accordance with market demand. Bookings will be available for flights in-route as soon as the necessary flight permits for two countries are received, he said.

Santosh Pandey, the Deputy Director of the Corporation’s Commercial Department, is in charge of a special task force that has been established for the flight from Bhairahawa. Currently, the company operates frequent flights between the two locations out of Kathmandu.

After the company’s flight service connecting Lumbini, the birthplace of the well-known Gautama Buddha in Nepal, begins, special packages will reportedly be set up to draw more Buddhist pilgrims to Lumbini.

Beginning on May 16, 2022, Gautam Buddh International Airport will be open for business. By expanding the air network, it was anticipated that this airport would draw more tourists from Buddhist-majority nations like Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos.

From that airport, Jazeera Air of Kuwait is now offering international service. Last year, Himalaya Airlines flew a short-term chartered flight. Even though numerous foreign airlines have expressed interest in operating a flight to Bhairahawa, it hasn’t been possible.
