Dhulikhel Zipline celebrates five years of thrilling adventure

KATHMANDU: Dhulikhel Zipline marks its fifth anniversary since its establishment on February 14, 2019. In this span of five years, this thrilling activity has garnered popularity, attracting not only common individuals but also high-profile government officials and prominent artists.

From Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to various leaders and artists, including Bagmati Province Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Yuvaraj Dulal, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Timilsina, Captain Vijay Lama, actors Pooja Sharma ,Barsha Siwakoti and Anmol KC, comedian Manoj Gajurel, singer Rachana Rimal, and Pratap Das, many have sought entertainment at Dhulikhel Zipline, operated by World-Wide Adventure Pvt Ltd.

Located just 35 km from the capital, Kathmandu, Dhulikhel has become a convenient destination for valley residents. The affordability of the zipline experience further adds to its allure. Bhupesh Shrestha, CEO of Dhulikhel Zipline, mentions that the proximity to Kathmandu and the availability of classic, superman, and tandem ziplines contribute to its popularity.

Dhulikhel Zipline offers an inclusive experience, allowing participants to capture photos and videos during their ziplining adventure for a fee of Rs 3,000, contributing to the rapid increase in its popularity.

Similarly, Dhulikhel Zipline introduced Superman and Tandem Ziplines for the first time in Nepal. The 1,100-meter zipline, connecting Thakle in Dhulikhel Municipality to Khawa in Panchkhal, serves up to 100 people daily at an average speed of 75 km per hour. The journey begins from the top station, situated 1,300 meters above sea level, descending only 100 meters to the bottom station.

Along the way, participants experience a ‘vertical drop’ of 240 feet, enjoying panoramic views of nearby farmlands, lush forests, and prominent mountains such as Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and Furbichu.

Five years ago, Kedar Thapa of Sindhupalchok and Bhupesh Shrestha of Kathmandu invested approximately Rs 70 million to bring this thrilling zipline project to life. Over time, it has not only become a favorite among foreigners as well as Nepali people but has also created a ziplining trend throughout the country.
