Nepal holds ground: Ranks 103rd on Henley Passport Index, Offering Visa-Free Access to 40 Countries

KATHMANDU: In a recent announcement by the Henley Passport Index, France has claimed the coveted title of having the most powerful passport in the world for the year 2024. French citizens can now rejoice as they enjoy visa-free access to a staggering 194 countries, solidifying their position at the pinnacle of global passport rankings.

Surprisingly, France is not alone at the summit. Sharing the spotlight with equal prominence are Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain. Citizens from these nations can also travel freely to 194 countries, marking a collective dominance at the forefront of passport strength.

On the other end of the spectrum, Nepal maintains its 103rd position, offering its passport holders visa-free access to 40 countries globally. This standing remains unchanged from the previous year, with Nepal sharing the ranking with Libya and Palestine.

In contrast, Afghanistan continues to grapple with one of the least powerful passports, securing the 109th position on the index. Afghan citizens are limited to visa-free access to a mere 28 countries, highlighting the challenges they face in international travel.

As global mobility continues to evolve, these passport rankings serve as a key indicator of a nation’s diplomatic strength and the freedom its citizens enjoy when venturing abroad.
