Siddhartha Wildlife Retreat Launches in Meghauli to Attract High-End Tourists

KATHMANDU: Siddhartha Hospitality, a leading name in Nepal’s hospitality industry, has launched a luxury wildlife resort in Meghauli, Chitwan in a strategic move to attract high-end tourists to the country’s growing wildlife tourism sector.

Previously operated under the name Sarang Wildlife Sanctuary, the resort has now been rebranded and relaunched as Siddhartha Wildlife Retreat by the Siddhartha Business Group. CEO Krishna Neupane confirmed the development, highlighting the resort’s focus on delivering premium wildlife tourism experiences.

“Meghauli is one of Nepal’s finest destinations for those seeking to immerse themselves in nature and observe aquatic life, wildlife, and bird species. With this in mind, Siddhartha Group has established a high-end wildlife resort in this beautiful region,” said CEO Neupane.

Located about 30 kilometers southwest of Bharatpur Airport, Meghauli is easily accessible via a blacktopped road.

According to Neupane, the resort is spread across a 12-bigha forest area, with 3 bighas developed into lush gardens and resort infrastructure. Guests can enjoy direct access to the surrounding jungle, where various bird and animal species can be observed. A natural stream flowing through the property further enhances its atmosphere.

A key attraction of the resort is its luxurious swimming pool, considered one of the finest in Chitwan, complemented by a poolside bar. Guests can relax on swinging beds beside the pool, offering a unique experience.

The resort houses three elephants, including a calf, allowing visitors and tourists to participate in intimate wildlife experiences like elephant feeding, elephant bathing, and elephant-back jungle tours.

The resort features 17 villas designed in traditional Tharu style, offering 24 rooms that can accommodate up to 48 guests. All villas are equipped with deluxe amenities.
The exteriors are finished with cement plaster, they mimic the look of traditional mud-plastered walls, creating a rustic yet refined aesthetic. The interiors are artistically decorated to reflect local culture and craftsmanship.

Situated on the western edge of Chitwan National Park and adjoining buffer-zone forests, the resort offers guests the sensation of staying inside the jungle. A range of jungle activity packages are available for both domestic and international tourists.

Meghauli is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 550 species of birds recorded in the area.

The region, home to Tharu and Kumal communities, offers unique cultural encounters and natural beauty. Visitors can take canoe rides on the Rapti River to Golaghat, a scenic confluence of the Narayani and Rapti rivers, which is renowned for its breathtaking sunset views and opportunities to spot wildlife and birds.

Tourists can book full-day or half-day jungle safaris in comfortable Hilux jeeps, accompanied by experienced guides, providing an exceptional wildlife exploration experience.

Siddhartha Hospitality currently operates over 30 outlets across Nepal under various brands, including the five-star Siddhartha Vilasa, four-star Siddhartha Vaibhav, three-star Siddhartha Boutique (Batika), as well as Siddhartha Cottages, S-Café, and others.
