NEPSE surges 26 points with NPR 7.12 billion turnover on Sunday

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index climbed 26 points on Sunday, the first trading day of the week, closing at 2,622 points. The double-digit gain reflects a bullish market sentiment, with 185 companies recording an increase in share prices, while 63 saw declines.

Trading activity was robust, with 10 million shares of 328 companies traded, resulting in a total turnover of NPR 7.12 billion. Sahas Urja led the market with transactions worth NPR 570 million, followed by Butwal Power Company at NPR 340 million, Union Hydropower at NPR 240 million, Nyadi Group at NPR 230 million, and Radhi Bidyut Company at NPR 210 million.

Saptakoshi Development Bank was a standout performer, with its share price surging by 10%, hitting a positive circuit breaker. The strong market performance and high trading volume indicate renewed investor confidence, particularly in the hydropower sector, which dominated the day’s transactions.

Analysts attribute the market’s upward movement to positive economic indicators and increased liquidity in the banking system, fostering optimism among investors as the fiscal year-end approaches.
