Skywalk Kathmandu to launch Nepal’s first urban Bungee Jump in August

KATHMANDU: Skywalk Kathmandu, a premier adventure tourism destination in Kamaladi, is set to elevate Nepal’s travel and tourism scene with the launch of a staggering 78-meter (256-foot) bungee jump from its iconic Skywalk Tower starting August 2025. This thrilling addition marks a new era for adventure activities in Kathmandu, offering adrenaline enthusiasts a unique urban bungee experience without leaving the capital.

Managing Director Bishnuhari Pandey announced the project, emphasizing its significance for adventure tourism in Nepal. “Previously, bungee jumping required traveling far from the Kathmandu Valley, but that’s no longer the case. We’ve launched this project for both local and international thrill-seekers,” Pandey said. The bungee jump, perched atop the 78.5-meter-tall Skywalk Tower, allows visitors to enjoy a heart-pounding leap while soaking in a 360-degree panoramic view of Kathmandu’s vibrant cityscape and Himalayan backdrop.

The infrastructure for the bungee jump is slated for completion by the end of July, with operations commencing in early August. Pandey also revealed plans for a 360-degree immersive dome, a fulldome projection environment that will create an engaging visual experience, further enhancing Skywalk Kathmandu’s appeal as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking adventure and cultural exploration. This cutting-edge technology, featuring high-resolution projectors and immersive audio, aims to transport visitors into new worlds, making it a unique attraction in Nepal’s tourism landscape.

Celebrating its third anniversary, Skywalk Kathmandu, operated by Wonders Nepal Pvt. Ltd., continues to draw visitors from across Nepal and abroad. Located on 13 ropani of land in Kamaladi, the Skywalk Tower is South Asia’s second skywalk, offering a glass-floored walkway on the 25th floor that simulates walking in the sky.

Certified with ISO 45001 and 9001 standards, the tower is designed for safety and durability, using high-grade steel and glass capable of supporting 500 kg per square meter. Its braced metal system ensures earthquake resilience, while a funicular shape enhances stability. The tower can accommodate 600 visitors simultaneously, with two high-speed lifts carrying up to 45 people at a time.

Skywalk Kathmandu is more than an adventure hub; it’s a gateway to exploring Kathmandu’s rich cultural heritage. From the observation deck, visitors can marvel at iconic landmarks like Ghantaghar, Ranipokhari, Dharahara, and Singha Durbar, making it an ideal spot for sightseeing and learning about the city’s history.

The tower’s 360-degree views also make it perfect for sunrise and sunset photography, yoga sessions, and cultural immersion. With the upcoming bungee jump and immersive dome, Skywalk Kathmandu is poised to redefine adventure travel in Nepal.
