Morang Industry Organization unveils 2025-27 plan to boost industry and business

KATHMANDU: The Morang Industry Organization (MIO) unveiled a dynamic two-year strategic plan to strengthen Nepal’s industrial sector and elevate Morang’s status as a hub for business tourism. The newly elected executive committee, led by President Nandakishor Rathi, outlined initiatives to foster a robust industrial ecosystem, promote entrepreneurship, and drive sustainable economic growth in Koshi Province.

Rathi emphasized that a thriving industrial ecosystem is crucial for empowering businesses and achieving economic prosperity. The plan prioritizes creating an investment-friendly environment through policy advocacy, streamlined regulations, and reliable energy access. “We aim to simplify processes, reduce costs, and promote innovation to make Morang a top destination for trade and investment,” Rathi said. Key focus areas include export promotion, import substitution, and addressing chronic power supply issues, aligning with Nepal’s goals to attract business travelers and investors.

To combat youth migration, MIO will launch youth-centric programs through the CIM Entrepreneurship Academy, including “School to Work Transition” and startup incubation initiatives. These efforts aim to nurture local talent, foster innovation, and create jobs, enhancing Morang’s appeal for entrepreneurial tourism. The organization also plans to strengthen industrialization and establish itself as a leading advocate for business reforms, drawing investors to complement attractions like Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve and Biratnagar’s cultural sites.

The event saw Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki and Biratnagar Mayor Nagesh Koirala congratulate MIO’s leadership. Karki praised the plan’s potential to transform the region’s economy, while Koirala highlighted Biratnagar’s growing infrastructure, ideal for trade fairs and business summits. MIO’s initiatives are set to position Morang as a key player in Nepal’s tourism and industrial sectors, complementing projects like Kathmandu’s Skywalk bungee jump.

By addressing energy reliability, regulatory hurdles, and youth retention, MIO aims to attract global investors and visitors. For those exploring business opportunities or Morang’s cultural heritage, Biratnagar offers a vibrant base.
