KATHMANDU: The Department of Foreign Employment has officially opened applications for Nepali auxiliary workers looking to work in long-term care centers in Israel. This recruitment drive follows a bilateral labor agreement between the governments of Nepal and Israel to send dedicated individuals to care for people with severe physical and mental disabilities.

According to the official notice published by the department, interested and qualified Nepali citizens can submit their applications online through the government’s web portal at ferms.dofe.gov.np. The online application system will accept submissions starting from midnight on May 31, 2026 (Jeth 17, 2083) until midnight on June 21, 2026 (Asar 7, 2083).

For this phase, Israel has requested a total of 2,300 auxiliary workers. The selection quota is strictly divided by gender, with 60 percent allocated for female workers and 40 percent for male workers. Selected candidates will earn a basic monthly salary of 6,443.85 Israeli New Shekels (NIS) (Rs 347,700).

The standard working schedule is set at a maximum of 6 days per week, covering 42 regular hours, with any overtime work and annual leave compensated in accordance with Israeli labor laws. While the employers will arrange housing facilities, the workers themselves must bear all costs related to both accommodation and food.

Additionally, employers will deposit 12.5 percent of the monthly salary into a foreign worker fund, which will be handed over to the workers when they legally leave the country at the end of their contract. The employment begins with a one-year contract, which can be extended annually up to a maximum period of 5 years.

To qualify for the program, applicants must be Nepali citizens aged between 25 and 45 years, with a height of at least 1.5 meters and a weight of at least 45 kilograms. Educational qualifications require at least a Class 10 pass with a completed 15-month ANM or CMA course. Alternatively, candidates with a 10+2 (or equivalent) degree must hold a minimum 3-month caregiving training certificate from a government-recognized institution.

Applicants must not have worked in Israel previously, and immediate family members must not currently reside or work in Israel. Candidates must also be physically and mentally fit, free from chronic diseases like tuberculosis, hepatitis, syphilis, gonorrhea, and AIDS, and must have the capability to lift heavy loads. The applicant’s passport must remain valid for at least 3 years from the date the visa process begins.

Additionally, candidates must clear a mandatory English language test. The department requires the Cambridge Upskill English Test certificate, administered by CIIN International Qualifications in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, with minimum required scores of A2 in Reading, A1 in Writing, A2 in Listening, and B1 in Speaking.

Applicants must upload scanned copies of their passport, a valid police report, the language certificate, a self-declaration of physical metrics, and a signed confidentiality waiver. Providing false details will lead to automatic removal from the roster and legal prosecution.

The selection process involves multiple stages, starting with the online FERMS system filtering valid applications. The selection committee will then prepare a final roster of eligible candidates and forward it to Israel’s Population and Border Authority (PIBA) for background checks.

Approved names will be published on the department’s website, and PIBA will select the final workers through a computerized lottery system. Out of the successful candidates, the first 1,000 individuals will be fast-tracked into the employment pipeline, while the remaining 1,300 will be processed later based on Israel’s requirements. Candidates are responsible for all personal expenses, including airfare, health insurance, orientation training, and welfare fund deposits.
