KATHMANDU: The downward trend in gold and silver prices continued on Thursday, extending losses seen since prices touched record levels earlier this week.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of gold declined by NPR 1,400 per tola on Thursday, trading at NPR 259,600 per tola in the domestic market. Silver also fell by NPR 55 per tola, with the metal trading at NPR 4,415 per tola.
The current decline follows a sharp correction over the past three trading sessions. On Wednesday, gold prices dropped by NPR 1,100 per tola to NPR 261,000, while on Tuesday, gold had fallen by a steep NPR 7,900 per tola, settling at NPR 262,100.
Silver prices have mirrored the downward movement. On Wednesday, silver declined by NPR 120 per tola to NPR 4,470, while on Tuesday it dropped by NPR 305 per tola, trading at NPR 4,590 per tola.
Market analysts attribute the continued correction to adjustments following recent record highs, along with movements in international bullion prices and currency dynamics. Traders say price volatility remains high, and further fluctuations are expected in the short term as global market signals continue to influence the domestic precious metals market.
