KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a strong gain on Monday, rising by 27.85 points to close at 2,786.35 points, supported by broad-based buying pressure across most sectors.
According to market data, all sub-indices except mutual funds ended the session in positive territory, indicating widespread investor confidence in the market.
The hydropower sub-index led the gains, rising by 1.50 percent, making it the best-performing sector of the day.
Out of the total traded companies, 235 listed firms saw their share prices increase, reflecting strong bullish momentum in the market.
Among individual stocks, Threestar Hydropower emerged as the top gainer, jumping 9.01 percent during the trading session.
Market activity also strengthened alongside the index, with total turnover reaching Rs 5.98 billion on Monday.
Among the most actively traded stocks, Aankhu Khola Hydropower Company led the market with transactions worth Rs 602 million.

Despite the overall bullish trend, 28 companies recorded losses, while 7 companies remained unchanged.
The biggest loser of the day was Bungul Hydropower, whose share price dropped by 10.32 percent, marking the steepest decline in the session.
Market analysts say the strong performance of hydropower and active investor participation helped drive the index upward, even as select stocks faced sharp corrections.
