KATHMANDU: Precious metal prices surged sharply in the Nepali market on Monday, with gold recording a significant single-day increase and silver also posting strong gains.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA), the price of hallmarked gold has been fixed at NPR 265,000 per tola today. This represents an increase of NPR 4,600 per tola compared to the previous trading day.
On Sunday, gold was traded at NPR 260,400 per tola. Earlier, on Poush 13 (Sunday), gold had reached its all-time high of NPR 270,600 per tola in the domestic market.
Silver prices also moved upward. The price of silver has been fixed at NPR 4,685 per tola today, marking an increase of NPR 185 per tola from Sunday’s rate. On Sunday, silver was traded at NPR 4,500 per tola.
Silver had earlier touched its record high of NPR 4,895 per tola on Poush 14 (Monday), the highest level recorded so far in the Nepali market.
The rise in domestic prices follows gains in the international market. According to international media reports, gold is trading at USD 4,406 per ounce, while silver is being traded at USD 75 per ounce in the global market today.
Market analysts note that volatility in international bullion markets, expectations around global interest rate movements, and sustained demand for safe-haven assets continue to influence gold and silver prices in Nepal.
