Golyan group blood donation Ranju Darshana
KATHMANDU: Member of the House of Representatives, Ranju Darshana, has praised Golyan Group for integrating social responsibility into its business operations, saying that connecting business success with community development is a commendable initiative.
Speaking at a blood donation program organized by Golyan Group on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Darshana said businesses should not only contribute to the economy through commercial activities but also invest in the welfare and development of society.
“Money earned through business should also be invested in social development. Staying connected with society is an excellent practice,” she said. “Golyan Group has embraced this responsibility and is actively contributing to society, which has strengthened its relationship with the community.”
Noting that the company’s corporate office falls within her electoral constituency, Darshana encouraged the group to involve more local residents in its social initiatives. She said corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, including blood donation campaigns, can create meaningful benefits for communities and help address pressing social needs.
Highlighting the importance of voluntary blood donation, she emphasized that the value of blood is often realized only when a patient or a family member urgently requires it in a hospital.
“The importance of blood becomes clear when someone you know is suffering due to a shortage of blood while undergoing treatment,” she said. “Organizing blood donation programs with this understanding is a noble contribution to society.”
Speaking at the event, Akshay Golyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Golyan Group, said the company has long contributed to Nepal’s economy through its business operations and is now placing greater emphasis on social responsibility initiatives.
“We have contributed to the national economy through business, and now we are prioritizing social initiatives that directly benefit communities,” Golyan said.
He described the blood donation campaign as a meaningful effort to support public health and save lives, adding that the value of blood cannot be measured in monetary terms.
“Blood cannot be compared with any commodity or measured by numbers. Its true value is understood only by those who need it,” he said.
Golyan also stressed the importance of institutionalizing the positive changes being driven by Nepal’s younger generation and ensuring long-term social impact through structured CSR programs.
Golyan Group has been extending educational and healthcare support to the families of martyrs associated with the Gen Z movement. According to the company, it currently provides annual educational scholarships worth NPR 480,000 per child to 32 children from 22 martyr families, equivalent to NPR 40,000 per month.
In addition, the company has arranged annual health insurance coverage worth NPR 1 million for 43 parents of the 22 martyrs.
Golyan said the group is committed to implementing social assistance programs in a systematic and sustainable manner as part of its broader responsibility toward society.
Director of Golyan Group, Shakti Kumar Golyan, said the blood donation drive would not only help reduce the growing shortage of blood across Nepal but also strengthen the relationship between the company and the wider community.
Meanwhile, Jyoti Gaire, Head of Corporate Affairs, Communications and Public Relations at Golyan Group, said the increasing shortage of blood has become a significant public health concern and that the company sought to contribute toward addressing the challenge through the campaign.
According to the Nepal Red Cross Society, Nepal requires approximately 350,000 to 400,000 pints of blood annually, yet the country continues to face a shortfall of around 100,000 pints each year.
“Blood donation is one of the most valuable contributions we can make to humanity. A single pint of blood can help save lives and provide hope for the future,” Gaire said.
The blood donation event saw participation from around 100 individuals, including employees of Golyan Group, journalists, and members of the local community.
