Thamel Tourism Council
KATHMANDU: The newly elected executive committee of the Thamel Tourism Development Council (TTDC) has formally assumed office.
The team led by newly elected President Rajuman Dangol officially took charge on Wednesday following the election held on July 11.
Along with President Dangol, Rajiv Pandey was elected First Vice President, Dawang (Dawa) Tamang Second Vice President, and Ramesh Thapa Third Vice President.
Similarly, Pashupati Kandel was elected General Secretary, Dilip Kandel Secretary, and Kinchu Lamu Bhutia (Shrestha) Treasurer.
The newly elected executive committee members include Surendra Dangol, Balkrishna Khanal, Sanukaji Maharjan, Roshan Pradhan (Shrestha), Bishwaman Pradhan, Liza Manandhar, Krishnabahadur Sedhai and Chandra Tamang.
Chief Election Officer Hariprasad Pangeni administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected office bearers and members.
Following the assumption of office, President Rajuman Dangol said the council would prioritize tourism promotion in the Thamel area, protection of the interests of tourism entrepreneurs, and the creation of a tourism-friendly environment.
He said Thamel, being one of Nepal’s major tourist destinations, requires coordinated efforts to further enhance its reputation and international appeal. Dangol pledged to work in collaboration with tourism entrepreneurs, stakeholders and government agencies to develop Thamel into a safe, well-managed and internationally recognized tourism hub.
“To take Thamel’s tourism business to a new height, the council will move forward by working together with all stakeholders. Protecting the rights and interests of entrepreneurs, promoting tourism and ensuring the overall development of Thamel will be our top priorities,” he said.
Similarly, newly elected General Secretary Pashupati Kandel said the new executive committee would give priority to institutional good governance, transparency and entrepreneur-friendly programs.
He said the council would ensure active participation of its members to make its operations more effective and would introduce creative programs aimed at supporting the recovery and sustainable development of the tourism sector.
“We will work in a planned manner to strengthen the council as a common platform for tourism entrepreneurs and contribute to the sustainable development of the tourism sector. We will give high importance to the support, cooperation and suggestions of all entrepreneurs,” Kandel said.
The program was attended by Nepal Tourism Board member Sahadev Dhamala, outgoing TTDC President Dhruva Adhikari, former presidents Bhawishwor Sharma and Samir Gurung, outgoing General Secretary Badri Timalsina, among others.
Participants congratulated the newly elected leadership and expressed confidence that the new executive committee would play an effective role in promoting tourism and supporting the overall development of Thamel.
