Nepal Telecom observes its 17th anniversary

KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom, on Thursday celebrated its 17 Anniversary. The company organized an event to mark the ceremony and the event was graced Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung and NTA chairman Purshottam Khanal, among other dignitaries.

Addressing the event, Minister Gurung directed employees of Nepal Telecom to make it professional and competitive while also stressed on the need for its review and transformation. “A strategy should be made to establish NT as a sustainable and permanent company by reviewing whether commitments to develop it as a leading company in the world have been fulfilled,” he said.

He also directed the employees to carry out infrastructural development activities of NT in rural areas. Minister Gurung, also Spokesperson for the government, asked NT to help achieve the government’s goal of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis’.

Similarly, he also stressed on the need to bring in a strategic manager/partner at NT to transform NT and ensure its growth. Likewise, Minister Gurung also asked NT to form a telecom infrastructure company and expand telecommunication infrastructures across the country. On the occasion, Hari Prasad Basyal, Chairperson of the NT Board of Directors and Secretary of the Ministry, promised to resolve problems (if any) the company has and construct its towers.

He also pledged for the implementation of NT’s bylaws and to address demands of the employees. Chairperson of NTA Purushottam Khanal, urged the Nepal Telecom to provide quality service directly benefitting the people. There are 20.9 million customers of the Nepal Telecom. The company has managed to report almost Rs 43 billion revenue last year.
