Cargo transport can improve NAC’s financial situation: Minister Ale

KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale, has argued the financial status of indebted Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) can be improved if its annual services comprise 50 per cent of cargo transport.

In his address to the signing of a MoU on air ticket and cargo transport (hazardous goods) between the NAC and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) at the Ministry today, the Minister expressed his confidence that the implementation of the agreement would be helpful for the indebted company to improve its financial health.

“The NAC is on the verge of a severe financial crisis and it will find a reliable source for a recovery if its fifty per cent operation is for the transport of NEA goods.”

NAC executive director Yuba Raj Adhikari and NEA executive director Kulman Ghising signed the document from their respective sides.

More, the NAC has agreed to give up to 15 percent discount to NEA employee on an international flight.

Likewise, the NEA is to be entitled five to 10 percent discount on the transport of NEA equipment and cargo being based on the weight of goods.

The MOU demands the NEA employees and their family members to book the air ticket from its headquarters to get the discount.
