Huawei mini MWC Nepal
KATHMANDU: Following major technology announcements at the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Huawei Nepal has hosted its flagship Mini MWC 2026 in Kathmandu, bringing together senior executives and technical experts from Nepal’s leading telecom operators to explore the future of the country’s digital and telecommunications landscape.
Held at Huawei Tower in Hattisar, the exclusive event focused on accelerating the “Age of All Intelligence”, with discussions centered on the commercialization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the deployment of next-generation telecom infrastructure.
Building on the momentum of Mini MWC 2025, Huawei Nepal this year emphasized how AI can move beyond experimentation and generate real business value for Nepal’s telecom sector. Under Huawei’s global theme, “Now Is Yours,” the company outlined strategies aimed at bridging the gap between AI innovation and practical telecommunications applications.
The event functioned as a collaborative platform for telecom innovation, with Huawei presenting solutions across two key strategic pillars: “AI for Networks” and “Networks for AI.”
One of the key highlights of the event was Huawei’s unveiling of Agentic Communication Networks (ACN), described as the company’s first AI-native framework for intelligent network operations.
Huawei also introduced its Agentic Core solution, designed to support highly stable, autonomous, and efficient telecom networks through Autonomous Network Level 4 (AN L4) capabilities.
The technology aims to help telecom operators automate network workflows, optimize operational efficiency, and improve service quality through intelligent decision-making systems.
As Nepal’s telecom sector gradually prepares for next-generation mobile technologies, Huawei showcased the commercial capabilities of 5G-Advanced (5G-A or 5.5G) mobile transport architectures.
The company demonstrated how advanced ultra-reliable transport systems can support comprehensive “fiber healthcare” mechanisms, enabling telecom operators to proactively monitor fiber conditions and reduce service disruptions caused by accidental fiber cuts — a persistent challenge in Nepal’s telecommunications network.
Huawei officials said such technologies could significantly improve network reliability and customer experience as data demand continues to surge.
With Nepal witnessing rapid growth in cloud computing, video streaming, digital services, and mobile internet consumption, Huawei proposed the development of AI-centric all-optical target networks.
The company said these next-generation optical systems are designed to maximize bandwidth capacity, lower latency, improve network intelligence, and reduce energy consumption — factors increasingly important as Nepal advances toward a more digitally connected economy.
Industry experts attending the event discussed how optical network modernization could become critical to supporting Nepal’s future digital infrastructure needs.
A major focus of Mini MWC 2026 was Huawei Digital Power, which highlighted sustainable and intelligent energy solutions designed specifically for Nepal’s challenging geography and infrastructure conditions.
Huawei introduced its next-generation telecom power architecture called “Single Site Power,” alongside advanced Energy Storage Systems (ESS) powered by AI.
According to the company, the system integrates solar photovoltaic (PV) technology, lithium battery energy storage, and telecommunications equipment to create clean, secure, and intelligent telecom infrastructure.
The architecture is designed to help telecom operators transform conventional base stations into energy-efficient and resilient “prosumer sites” capable of handling grid instability while reducing carbon emissions from telecom operations.
Given Nepal’s mountainous terrain and power reliability challenges in remote regions, the company said such solutions could support uninterrupted connectivity while lowering operating costs.
