Government to Establish Sovereign AI Compute Center in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU – The Government of Nepal has announced the establishment of the country’s first “Sovereign AI Compute Center” in Syuuchatar, Kathmandu.

Presenting the national budget for fiscal year 2083/84, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle said the facility will be developed as a major milestone in Nepal’s technological advancement.

According to him, the center will be fully sovereign in structure and will provide affordable high-performance computing resources for AI entrepreneurs and startups by deploying thousands of AI processing units.
